Pride of the Pinstripes Vol. 6

Bold prediction. The New York Yankees will surprise everyone this year and make the Divisional Playoffs (knock on wood). It’ll happen. The Yankees have been the best team in Spring Training this year. Not to mention their best spring training in the last 10 years. The Yanks eclipsed the 20 win total last week for the second time in the that 10 year span. The only other time that happened? 2009… the year the Yankees knocked off the Phillies to win their 27th title. Not only have the Yankees eclipsed the 20 win total, but they have looked very good doing it. Of their projected Opening Day lineup, six of their starters are batting over .290. With Jacoby Ellsbury and Matt Holliday the only two hitting sub .300. If they can keep this up through the season, maintaining at least a couple players hitting above .300, the Yankees might just get enough run support to make a run at the playoffs.

There is hope Yankee fans. And if not this year, then next, and the following, and any years to come. The young Yankees have showed that they are ahead of the game when it comes to growth. They have a stacked farm system and are on the verge of creating yet another dynasty. I wrote in another post that this Yankees farm system resembles the farm system from the early 90’s. A farm system that ignited a dynasty. Well, the more I look at it, the more this team resembles that one from the 90’s. In fact, it might even be better. Let that sink in. It might be a better farm system than the team that won four out of seven championships from 1996-2003. The stars are aligned for the greatest franchise in the history of Major League Baseball.
